My career in video game design and development:

Between 2017 and 2022 I took a degree in video game development at ESNE.

First year

2017 / 18
Nonogramas Nonogramas · C# / WinForms

In the first year I used Windows Forms to create an implementation of the puzzle known as nonogram created by designer Tetsuya Nishio.

It includes more than 30 different nonograms of different sizes. Inside each puzzle the player must guess which of the cells are part of the drawing and which are not by using the information provided. The drawings are read from .txt during execution. After committing a number of mistakes, depending on the size of the puzzle, the user is forced to restart the puzzle.

Second year

2018 / 19

During my second year I discovered the 3D art world and thus I created a sort of walking simulator to showcase my work. Code-wise it has nothing interesting, but it encompasses many hours of learning and discovery about modeling, texturing, shading and animation.

Third year

2019 / 20

My third year was a busy one. The workload was huge, but the results were pretty satisfying. It was also the year I developed Become Red. Code-wise it was the year of the AI. I created a bunch of projects during this course, but the most exciting two are the following, both of them use Unity and C#:

The first one is a simulation of hunter/prey behavior using finite state machines. The agents can only access the information picked up by their senses, and the simulation can be configured during execution. The project is available on GitHub

The second one is an ecosystem simulator. The animal behavior is also governed by a finite state machine. It also incorporates genetic algorithms, so the creature's offspring inherits traits from both parents with a random variation on top. The terrain in which the simulation takes place is procedurally generated using Perlin noise. The project is available on GitHub

Lastly, I want to show an animation created as an homage/video-clip of a song from one of my favorite bands. The facial animation was done by filming myself singing with tracking dots drawn on my face, and then, tracking their movement and applying it to a 3D model of my face.

Fourth year

2020 / 22

Unsurprisingly, this was the most intense year of them all. I chose to specialize in programming, which allowed me to get familiarised with lower level programming via c++.

Due to the huge quantity of interesting projects, it would be best for all of I summarize them in a video format:
